The art columnist Edmund Chandra interview the Artist Regina Velloso, which held a beautiful virtual exhibition recently.

Where did you born? And what is your academic training?

I was born in Jaboticabal, SP, Brazil, Today I live in Araçoiaba da Serra/SP, I have a degree in art education Full – College Armando Alvares Penteado – FAAP/SP.

How and when you give your first contact with the Arts?

Since I was a kid, my great-grandfather and grandfather, Theodósio and John Morescalchi, were artists, We have several churches in Brazil painted by them, had stone that sells marble and so, several marble sculptures too. In childhood, very involved with my grandfather, and with your work.

How did you find this gift?

Come with me… was "choice", they say and I have memories of child with my drawings. Must have been 10 years, When I beat my dad, the drafting table… our!!! The Bank have until today, part of the Atelier… lol

What are your main influences?

I've always been very fond of Impressionist artists, for freedom of expression, though I charm with many other movements and new contemporary artists.

What materials do you use in your works?

Work with oil and ceramics. Hence things are happening… with collages, textures, anyway… It all depends on the moment and than "see". Ceramics, I quite like model and often reproduce the screens for “three-dimensional”… currently working with the theme “Nature”. This happened in Cuiabá, late ' 80, When I started painting "Flowers the Chapada", the work has been evolving and is there…

Starting from the "object" that I see and feel, Often photographer, developing studies of the photos in the design, then to screen or modeling. Very Beautiful when I look at an object, in the event the nature and visualize what should I do… is magic!!!

When you started effectively to produce or create your works?

Had 14 years when I painted the initial screen, so I didn't stop more, because he had convinced what I wanted. But professionally, was in 89, When a Friend, I consider my godfather in the arts ", Hugo T, believing in my work, organized the exhibition "Moments", at the Julio Campos.

Art is an intellectual production exquisite, where emotions are embedded in the context of creation, but in art history, we see that many artists are derived from other, following technical and artistic movements through time, you own any model or influence of any artist? Who would be?

The love for the art and for my work made me find my way, my work, in both painting and ceramics has its own identity.

What does art mean to you? If you were to summarize in a few words the meaning of Arts in your life…

Art is pleased to work. Work is Life, though… my life!!! To me… “Art is the ultimate expression of the soul of the artist”.

O Meu Querer por Regina Velloso.What techniques do you use to express their ideas, feelings and perceptions about the world? (Whether it is through painting, sculpture, drawing, collage, photography… or uses several techniques in order to make a mix of different art forms).

Painting, modeling (sculptures), collage, Aguada, graphics, all composing my emotions… love placed in each work. "Visible or not… Is and Is ".

Every artist has his mentor, that person who you have mirrored, you encouraged and inspired you to follow this career, going ahead and taking your dreams the other expression levels, who this person is and how it introduced you in the art world?

In 1st place, a "force majeure" inside me. I Consider Hugo T, which I quoted above, one who gave a "boost"… vai… your work is very Good!!! After, several critics, with texts which just made me grow…

Regina Velloso.You have another activity beyond art? You give lessons, lectures etc.?

I've given a lot of classes, workshops, anyway… Today I'm just in the production.
