Galeria Marcelo Guarnieri presents the first solo exhibition of Vincent Ciantar (1912 – 1989) at its headquarters in São Paulo. It is the first time that Ciantar photographs are exposed from 1965, some of them unpublished. The expansions were made by the photographer himself, one of them in Brazil in the 1960, elsewhere in the decade of 1950 no exterior. The images presented in the exhibition were made in the cities of London, Cairo, Paris, Cyprus and Rio de Janeiro.

British citizen born in Egypt *, Vincent Ciantar was a photographer established in Brazil since the decade of 1960. He worked for magazines, businesses and industries and developed, in parallel, an authorial work that circulated in Egypt, Brazil and England while he was alive. Contemporary Cartier Bresson, Vincent Ciantar also found in urban environments situations for your photos: were merchants, loving couples, pigeons, passers-by and children who had their images captured in full action. In addition to the street images, Ciantar was used the expertise acquired technical photography in their formal jobs to explore, in his original work, the studio photography lyricism, composing nature lifes with flowers and jars. During the period he spent in Egypt, the photographer did not fail to register the monumentality of the pyramids and sphinxes, as well as the vastness of the desert.

From 1929 to 1943, Vincent Ciantar Trabalha no National Bank of Egypt, organizing and heading the microfilm sector during those last 8 years. His first performance as a professional photographer takes place in 1943 as a war photographer in the British Royal Air Force (RAF), obtaining two awards for services rendered: to “Star Africa” and the “Reference Medal”. In 1955 held his first major exhibition in Cairo Art gallery, “Photographic Exhibition of works by Vincent Ciantar”, under the auspices of the Banque Nationale d'Egypte. In the same year, develops reporting work for the company PHOTO - PRODUITS GEVAERT, headquartered in Belgium, with a branch in Cairo. The following year, Photo heads the Department of "The Egyptian Economic & Political Review”. In 1957, during the process of breaking with Britain, the military government of Malta expelled the British citizens from its territory, Ciantar taking to move to London. There works with artistic photography and industrial, tendo sua foto “The Wanderer” premiada no “Twenty-Ninth Exhibition – The London Salon of Photography”. From 1959 It is established in Brazil, initially working as a photojournalist in Bloch Publishers and later as an independent, during the years 1960 and 1966. In this period he presented the exhibition "With my Camera in London", the Company Cultura Inglesa. Between 1967 and 1975, He spent by companies: Kelson’s; Hoffmann Bosworth; Tube Mills and Gilette in Brazil, carrying out various technical works in photography. Between 1974 and 1979, worked for Schering - Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry, doing photographic work for Schering magazine. Between 1979 and 1983, made photographic works to Furnas - Power Plants.
