#BUT Expressions In Sacred Art: “A Mandala” – Practical Course

The Museum of sacred art promotes the day 16 September a practical course on Expressions In Sacred Art: A Mandala with Prof. Specialist Silvana Borges.

A mandala is the elaboration of a drawing arranging in a circle, and in concentric squares, in a geometric representation of the dynamic relationship between man and the universe, resulting in a symbolic image of the cosmos.

lecture (from 10:00 to 12:00):
– The origins and representations of the cosmic cycle in primitive societies.
– The symbolic aspect of the circle and the cosmic connection of the temples to the sacred mountains.
– Cultural variations ordered image of mandalas in religious architecture: the stone circles, labyrinths, Celtic cross to the earth symbol, the rose windows of Christian cathedrals, the medicine wheel and dreamcatcher Native American and other representations.

Making a personal mandala with the use of various methodologies and materials.

Silvana Borges It is artist and architect expert in conservation and restoration in the fields of Sacred Art (paint and imaginary) and Architecture (wall art), professional affiliated with the International Council of Museums (ICOM), the Brazilian Association of Conservatives and Restorers of Cultural Property (ABRACOR) and the Brazilian Imaginary Studies Center (CEIB). Lectures and courses on the preservation of heritage and artistic techniques. His works are published in prestigious art catalogs and literary collections, receiving several awards and trophies, present in exhibitions and collections in countries like Mexico, Italy, USA, France, Spain, Holland, Hungary, Portugal and China on a path 30 years of artistic and literary activities.
