Concrete poetry wins objects and installations in an unprecedented show at the Ruins Park, in Santa Teresa

from 10 th November of 2018 until 13 January 2019

Concrescer is an exhibition inspired by the Brazilian concrete poetry and presents ten works (objects and installations) created between 1983 and 2017, by the artists Francisco Zorzete and Jorge Bassani, and reading from the plastic-spatial reinterpretation by concrete poems of the first phase - in the passage 1950 for 1960. The exhibition, unprecedented in Rio de Janeiro, will be set in the Ruins Park, in Santa Teresa, from day 10 November. The exhibition shows that, despite the digital revolution that overthrew all boundaries between codes and languages, the poetic experience is always sensory, corporal. The spatial distribution of the poems in his concreteness leads to other poetry experimental conditions, preserving many of its semantic attributes and graphics, but proposing new forms of perception and readings.

At the Centro Cultural Parque das Ruinas works will be exhibited: concretus (poem by Pedro Shale), Full empty (poem by Pedro Shale), velocity (poem Ronaldo Azeredo), Infinity (poem by Pedro Shale), LIFE (poem Pignatari), Zero Gravity (poem by Pedro Shale), Shape (José Lino Grünewald poem) and Blue Ball (poem by Pedro Shale), Sick Rose (poema de Willian Blake, translated by Augusto de Campos) Turn around and Mind (poem by Torquato Neto). The latter is a patch work inspired by the poem "kind of pills makes the stick roll" Torquato Neto, that on the opening day of the exhibition marks 46 death year. The public can take the work home. "This tribute to Torquato is not to remember the death of the great poet, but to thank the poetry and the life he left us ", They say the artists Francisco Zorzete and Jorge Bassani.

The research that originated the works of this show was called transcoding, whose title arose from the translation of idea for different codes - if, graphic verbal (the written word and all the syntactic and lexical superstructure) to the purely visual (colors and shapes without mimetic relationship with the semantic assumption). "From the start, we rely on collaboration and invaluable guidance of Augusto de Campos and Julio Plaza, plus many other great personalities of concrete poetry, as Pignatari, Haroldo de Campos, Ronaldo Azeredo and Pedro Shale ", explain the artists Jorge Bassani and Francisco Zorzete. "All generously welcomed us and were willing to lengthy discussions about the intrinsic relationship of his poetry with the visuality of the printed sheet."

The years 1980 were a kind of "breaking point" from electromechanical to digital. In other words, Bassani and Zorzete started its trial production in the vortex of the most profound revolution in the means of production, reproduction and operationalization of languages. "Concrete poetry not only went through all this with a gale unshaken status profound experience, it was raised to higher levels in their visionary perspectives of poetry operation + urban life + information Technology + pop culture + media explosion of signs ", highlight. The artists believe that, in today's world, this research contributes to this debate, but not limited to poems. Rereading proposes, also, new insights about the enormous importance of artists such as Julio Plaza, in order to expand and explode the semantic and formal limits sign. "More than a fundamental reference for our research, was contact with translating concepts intersemiotic, especially from Jakobson, that fact that it took shape ", count.
