From 3 to 25 September

The Art Museum of the river-SEA, under the management of the Institute Odeon, has prepared a very special programming for the month of September. Among the activities planned are the MAR program at the Academy, that will promote a meeting between several researchers to discuss love and sexuality in contemporary culture; the course of history of Rio de Janeiro – Rio body languages [The Vertigo of the river]; the Week of the Deaf culture and Splashcletas intervention, paulista artist Kiyomi Takahashi, within the Child. During the period will also be playing the exhibitions "The color of Brazil”, “Leopoldina, Princess of independence, of Arts and science”, "Carioca body Languages [the Vertigo of the river], and the nature of things-Pablo Lobato (until day 18). The course of history of Rio de Janeiro traces a panorama of the history of the river, weaving various routes on the places and building the memory of city, from the relationship with the sea exhibition. This edition of the course, held in two classes with teachers and researchers Adriana Facina (day 17/09) and Jorge Luis Barbosa (day 24/09), investigates the “Rio body languages [The Vertigo of the river]”, the exhibition takes as its starting point the body of who lives in the city, to put in discussion the social identity as a kind of sign slang.

Week of workshops, debates and presentations, held with the deaf community, that promotes the discussion and dissemination of artistic practices, educational and cultural developed for deaf and hard-of-hearing. The artist William Tait performs the intervention, Splashcletas, in which participants proposed a collaborative visual experience with three bicycles adapted to function as painting machines. Within the Child, developed by the School Look, artists and educators in residence develop experiments focusing on art and the contemporary languages, stimulating the curiosity, discovery, the reflection, do collective and the culture of play.

The Conference Funk is a partnership between the sea and the River Stop Funk. The event starts the Funk project at sea, that throughout the year will hold a series of activities to debate, demystify and spreading abroad the funk culture in the country.

The Museu de Arte do Rio

The MAR is a space dedicated to art and visual culture. It occupies two buildings on praça Mauá: an eclectic style, which houses the Exhibition Hall; other modernist style, Look where the school's work. The architectural design unites the two buildings with a fluid concrete cover, which refers to a wave - a trademark of the museum -, and a ramp, where visitors come to the exhibition spaces.

An initiative of Prefeitura do Rio in partnership with Fundação Roberto Marinho, the sea has activities that involve collecting, registration, search, preservation and return of cultural property to the community. Proactive support space education and culture, the museum was born with a school - the School Look -, whose proposal is innovative museological: foster the development of an educational program of reference for actions in Brazil and abroad, combining art and education from the curatorial program that guides the institution.

The sea is managed by the Odeon, a social organization of culture, selected by the Rio de Janeiro City Hall for public notice. The museum has the Globe Group as maintainer, the Ita as copatrocinador of Leopoldina, Princess of independence, of Arts and Sciences, and j. p.. Morgan as supporter body language carioca [the Vertigo of the river]. For the activities of the School Look, is counted with the support of Banco Votorantim and Grupo Libra as supporter of educational visits, and Accenture as a supporter of SEA at the Academy via Municipal law of incentive to culture. The project Sea of Music receives support from TIM via State law of incentive to culture and the Souza Cruz is the copatrocinadora Sunday at sea. It also has the support of the Government of the State of Rio de Janeiro, and implementation of the Ministry of culture and the Federal Government of Brazil through the Federal law of incentive to culture. The management of the sea is the Odeon Institute.

Service MAR - Museu de Arte do Rio

Entrance: R$ 10 The R $ 5 (half price) - People with up 21 years, private school students, university, disabled people and public servants of the city of Rio de Janeiro. The sea is part of the Carioca Program Pays Half, offering half price to locals and residents of the city of Rio de Janeiro in all cultural institutions linked to City Hall. Present a document proving (identity, proof of residence, water bills, light, pay phone with, tops, three months of issue) and remove your ticket at the box office. Payment by cash or card (Visa or Mastercard).

Single Ticket: R$ 16 – R$ 8 (half price) locals and residents in Rio de Janeiro, on presentation of supporting documentation or proof of residence. Supporting documents will be considered those that contain the birthplace, such as RG, driver's license, portfolio of work, Passport etc.. Will be considered proof of residence titles of collection with a maximum 3 (three) months of issue, as water services, light, landline or natural gas, duly accompanied by official document of identification with photo (RG, driver's license, portfolio of work, Passport etc.) of the user.

Policy free: Pay no entry-on presentation of evidentiary documentation – students from public (teaching elementary and middle), children up to five years or people from 60, public school teachers, employees of museums, groups in situations of social vulnerability educational visit, Neighbors of the sea and tourist guides. Tuesdays admission is free to the general public. On Sunday admission is free for holders of Museums Passport Cariocas you still don't have the stamp of the SEA. On the last Sunday of the month the Museum has free entry into all through the project Sunday at sea.
