ART OF OPEN DOORS SANTA TERESA – Historical

Arte de Portas Abertas is a pioneer in this format for disseminating the arts, getting an average of 30 thousand visitors per edition.

The artistic vocation of the Santa Teresa neighborhood was gestated in the soirees of Laurinda Santos Lobo. In the soirees of Botafogo, at the same time, there was no room for a multiplicity of styles and expressions considered “mundane” that presented themselves there.. The palace was a place of invention, an open window to the culture that broke with classicism, as the presence of Isadora Duncan in her salon.

This vocation is perpetuated with the residency of artists who have become references in the artistic universe. Missing Cícero Dias, Pixinguinha, Bibi Ferreira, Johnny Thirty, Emeric Marcier, Djanira, Manoel Bandeira, George Solomon, among other residents, to the pleasure of the presence of Amir Haddad, Carlos Vergara, Paulão Sete Cordas, the artist from Santa Teresa is an apostle of resistance in a continuous process of creation. All inserted and inspired by the hill biome, naturally and lovingly artisans of this historic construction and with the doors open.

Since 1996, the event Arte de Portas Abertas holds several exhibitions in Santa Teresa. In it, the artists open their studios to the public and interact with them to explain techniques and creation processes during the appreciation of the works., contributing to overcoming the general public's access to artistic events and museums.
