Ava Galleria Rio presents the exhibition “Identity in Art”, with renowned national and international artists to show art as an instrument of historical and cultural expression
The show talks about the diversity of artistic identity, at Centro Cultural Correios RJ, curated by Edson Cardoso and produced by Renata Costa.
TheAva Galleria presents theexhibition “Identity in Art”, with works by national and international artists, with the aim of showing that art is directly linked to the history and culture of a person or a nation, through specific characteristics in each exhibited work.
The shows, with curated by Edson Cardoso and produced by Renata Costa, can be visited from day 19 January, until 04 March 2023, at Centro Cultural Correios RJ, Tuesday to Saturday, from 12:00 to 7:00 pm.
Among the Brazilian artists are Adilson Barbosa, Alzira Chaloub, And Galilee, Angela Vielitz, Carla Senna, Carol Couri, Daniel Novais, Daniele Bloris, Deborah Netto, Giselle Parno, Henrique Hammler, Liana Gonzalez, Mara Estela, Marcelo Cortes, Marcelo dos Santos, Marcelo Duprat, Marcelo Galvao, Márcio Goldzweig, Mariah Campolina, Mario Marques, Marlene Blois, Monsyerrá Batista, Neuza Nazar Petti, Renata Costa, Rosa de Jesus ( in memoriam ) and Walle Oliveira

About the exhibition
The exhibition Identity in Art appears to show the general public what an artistic identity is, this set of exclusive characteristics that make the artist stand out from the rest, making it unique in its performance. The trait that an artist demonstrates in his work, when it's single, creates an identity, can be compared to a signature, so we define as your artistic identity. we know, that the art (among other things) expresses the cultural identity of a people, your roots, values and its history. So when the artist creates an identity, creates a story.
The exhibition brings together different forms of expression., showing both on an individual level as well as on a collective. This shows, we will have a text accompanying the work, showing a story behind each work. We believe that contemporary art, governs us with a regime of singularity, valuing what is out of the ordinary, the only, the atypical. Art is also responsible for a creative process that leads to the development of a nation and promotes the cultural growth of a people The identity of a work, can often contribute to a cultural imprint of a people.

Founded in 2005, Ava Galleria is one of Helsinki's most renowned contemporary art galleries. Located in the city's cultural corridor, close to Helsinki Art Museum, Taidehalli e Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art. Organizes local exhibitions and in collaboration with cultural spaces in other cities around the world, like osaka, Tokyo, Berlin, London, Porto and Rio de Janeiro.
