Paulo Branquinho opens unprecedented exhibition with paintings, engravings, photographs, sculptures and objects in the gallery he occupies in Lapa

After a three-year hiatus, Galeria Paulo Branquinho has just returned to the art scene at full speed, opening new press conference on the day 12 August, Saturday.

“Without Barriers”, the new exhibition which will be inaugurated in the 18th century house in Lapa, will have the participation of 16 artists, who, together, will present works using different supports, styles, techniques and materials.

Alessandro Carola, Ana Pose, Analu Nabuco, Eda Miranda, Edna Cup, Gustavo Alves, Ira Etz, Istefania Rubino, Jacqueline Dalsenter, Jose Senna, Laura Bonfá Burnier, Marcia Rommes, Maria Cecilia Leão, Maria Eugênia Baptista, Maria Lúcia Maluf and Teresinha Mazzei, have in common the proposal to seek the attentive look of visitors and cause different emotions..

Artists and their works

the belgian artist Alessandro Carola assembles a panel in tiles using the same traditional painting technique used in the 17th century in Portugal. Inspired by Portuguese Baroque, the theme mixes inquisition, eroticism and comics.

Held at the motel where the father lived and worked, where it was practically created, the photographs of Ana Pose they explored girlish memories through the rooms they registered.

Analu Nabuco graces the public with its totems, erected with objects, stones, wood, seeds and different materials found in their paths.

In the series entitled “multiply”, referring to the body, to the feminine, to reproduction (and everything else that involves this poetics), Eda Miranda construct object with acrylic box, cardboard, canson paper and inkjet printing.

Edna Cup composed a frame of colored light with electroluminescent lamps, MDF, acrylic paint and electrical equipment. The piece will be camouflaged behind a curtain, arousing the curiosity of the public.

Gustavo Alves it achieves, with subtle strokes of gouache on paper, give strength to the two paintings that will be exhibited: the bodies of a woman in profile, in shades of black and brown, and other, seated, in black and yellow.

Using color layers in your work, Ira Etz seeks to lead the viewer to the question; building, deconstructing, unexpected forms emerge that open up to new directions.

And as is tradition, Paulo Branquinho turns his openings into a big party among friends, artists and art lovers, bustling the quiet Rua Morais e Vale. On 12 will not be different: from 5 pm, there will be a presentation by the Flor Amorosa Trio, with a lot of crying, gherkin, polka and Brazilian instrumental music. Composed by Luís Palumbo (transverse flute), Juan (seven string guitar) and Rodrigo Sebastian (percussion), the group will perform memorable compositions by Pixinguinha, Chiquinha Gonzaga, Ernesto Nazareth, Zequinha de Abreu, among others.
