LIVE DRAWING FESTIVAL

CULTURAL CENTER BANCO DO BRASIL BRASILIA - DE 7 FROM JULY TO AUGUST 1, 2021.

webinar, workshops, workshops, animation shows and concerts explore the endless possibilities of drawing

*Opening will be with the Venezuelan poet and art historian Luis Pérez-Oramas, former curator of MoMA

*Activities will take place outdoors, in the gardens of CCBB Brasília, and also through the YouTube channel of Banco do Brasil and the YouTube channel Festival Desenho Vivo

Everything that has ever been built in the world was a drawing – virtual or physical. The art of drawing is closely linked to the human experience on Earth, from time immemorial, When, still in the chipped stone age, our primitive ancestors recorded on the walls of caves a little of their daily life, proving that they had symbolic capacity, intellectual and artistic similar to that of today's man. Drawing offers instruments for human beings to make, think, fabular, design and inhabit possible worlds. However, there is still no established knowledge about drawing. It is to fill this gap that the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center presents the FESTIVAL DESENHO VIVO, that throughout the month of July will explore the universe of drawing, with workshops, webinar, animation show and music shows. All activities are free.

From 7 from july to august 1st, the gardens of CCBB Brasília will be transformed into true ateliers that promise to deepen the knowledge of children and adults in various segments that permeate the art of drawing. And through the Banco do Brasil channel on YouTube and the channel of the Desenho Vivo Festival itself, it will be possible to follow a webinar featuring the participation of great names in the world of art in Brazil and in the world, besides the musical show “Under the Northeastern Sky“, that will pay homage to the music and poetry of the northeast, with live performance by musicians and designers.

on opening night, the festival will feature the participation of Venezuelan curator Luis Pérez-Oramas, writer, poeta e PhD em História da Arte pela School of Advanced Studies in Social Sciences, in Paris. Top name in the world's contemporary art scene, Pérez-Oramas has acted as curator of the São Paulo International Biennial and was, during 12 years, curator of Latin American art for MoMA in New York.

FESTIVAL DESENHO VIVO was conceived and curated by Gregório Soares Rodrigues, creative coordination by Carol Nogueira and executive production by Juana Miranda. Organization of the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center and sponsorship of Banco do Brasil.

THE FESTIVAL

“There is no way to draw a picture – there is only drawing”. It was so, paraphrasing the American artist Richard Serra, that the idea of a festival arose to bring together the great diversity of knowledge that involves drawing (or the art of drawing) and the individuals who draw. Who, which, where, how and why was it drawn and drawn so much? Where does this ability to persist in time come from, to make yourself present, of survival even of drawing in so many and diverse bodies, means and contexts? These and other questions will be addressed by artists, scholars, curators during the various activities of the festival and will later be part of a catalog, to be released at closing, with a record of the texts and images produced by this art so widespread and at the same time so little discussed.

The DESIGN VIVO FESTIVAL has a multidisciplinary character, want to promote the meeting of artists, teachers, curators and specialists in a moment of reflection on drawing, seeking to draw an overview of contemporary design in Brazil and in the world. The intention is to maximize the range of expressions in the drawing, sheltering, besides artists, students and interested people in general, specific segments included in the schedule, as architects, designers, entertainers, comic artists, illustrators, educators and amateurs.

The activities will be divided into a webinar (term used to designate a seminar held virtually), cartoons, free studios, children's workshops, workshops, animation debates, animation show and music shows. For the webinar were invited, as healers, names such as PhD in Letters and professor at PUC/RJ Ana Kiffer, the artist, educator and curator Stella Barbieri, Doctor in History and Theory of Visual Arts Atila Regiani, the curator and indigenous art researcher Naine Terena, and Doctor in History of Art Maria do Carmo Couto da Silva, among other.

For the ateliers – in which the artist will be able to expose his path and practical strategies to the public – artists from different strands were called, as award-winning writer and illustrator Roger Mello, the visual artist and comic artist Lucas Gehre, the visual artist and artist educator Raisa Curty and many others. There will also be drawing workshops, taught by the designer, painter and animator Renato Moll. Pre-registration will be required.. Applications can be made from 9 am on every Monday, no site do Eventim, and each CPF may withdraw up to 4 tickets - in case of withdrawal, vacancies will be made available to the spontaneous public.

However, the cartoons, that are distributed throughout the entire program, will be held in the mornings and afternoons of weekdays, every half hour, no need to reserve tickets.

For the musical show “Under the Northeastern sky” it will be necessary to book tickets on the Eventim website. The presentation will bring together the singer and composer Túlio Borges and the Quinteto da Paraíba, on 18, at 19h, at the CCBB Brasília Theater, and can also be followed by Youtube Banco do Brasil. The musical program also includes the presentations "Traços e sounds", that will take place in the CCBB Brasília gardens, with the sound of DJ Stênio Alves.

Over the four weeks of the festival, an online animation show will also be held., with film screenings and debates by young national artists, curated by artist Taís Koshino.

According to the festival curator reveals, the artist and professor at the Department of Visual Arts at the Instituto de Artes at the University of Brasília, Gregory Soares, the choice of the Brazilian capital to host an event with such pioneering characteristics was not random. “Brasília has a natural vocation to host the initiative of a festival of this nature, due to its projective dimension, drawn, and the fact that we live with these architectural drawings, of the city and the landscape in such a vivid way in our daily life, that formed our visual imagery", the firm. "That is, Brasília invites us at all times to imagine new designs to compose its horizon. A motto always resonates in my head: Brasilia is the capital of design!”

CURATOR – Gregório Soares Rodrigues is an artist, curator and professor at the Department of Visual Arts at the University of Brasília.
