Interview

Biagio, tell us a little about yourself ...

My name is Biagio Cerbone and I was born in Cardito (Nápoles) in 1956. My colleague had a sculptor grandfather, painter and tenor and with him, from a very young age, I learned the first painting and sculpture techniques. I graduated from Art School, I'm an Industrial Specialist, I attended courses at the Faculty of Architecture of Naples as Plastic Ornamental and I have a degree in Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples.

Biagio Cerbone é Artista Plástico.

Biagio Cerbone is Plastic Artist.

When he woke up his desire to be an artist?

The desire to be an artist was born with me a little since childhood, when drawing with charcoal on the haystack tables in the courtyard, adorned cribs and dolls and kites with my father. Seeing colors in space in plastic forms has always been a real passion of mine.

What kind of art do you like best?

Painting, certainly because with painting the magic of illusion is exercised, spatiality is created… the sublime!

How he developed his style (techniques)?

My style, just like writing, graduated with continuous work, exercises and observations of everything inside and outside, whether objects or people. The oil painting technique fascinates me the most. The smell of oil, as my teacher said, it will be a joy or a condemnation for the rest of your life.

Cite if you had artistic influences in your works and which artists?

I loved Dali so much, Van Gogh e Leonardo, how to love nature, to understand the laws and movements, celebrate God in every work.

Do you have a family member or acquaintance who is an artist?

My father loved to make kites and together we decorated in the crib, pastors and models in general were very present in the family.

Living from art is possible?

To do art with method, directed, lets live, but often the artist is interested in researching… for spirit and growth.

Ever thought about not acting with more art? can comment why?

The desire to stop is not for professional painters, for us to create is like walking, breathe, it is an ongoing need…

What skills are needed today for the artist?

Today technology supports artists, innovative materials, workshops and foundations support artists with professional guides for the model to transform and come to life.

What do you feel when you create or appreciate a work of art?

Create a work, watch it, contemplating her is like preparing her person for an act of love and transcendence.

Your inspirations to create a work of art?

My painting is a deep search through the senses. The smell of a peach blossom can inspire me like the cry of a desperate person or the beauty of a face. I grasp the colors of life with the perceptive support of organs and memories, screams and smiles with music or noises.

Which art has impressed you the most so far?

Surrealism, the unconscious, the world of dreams, the fantastic world of thinkers, the happy world of children's images.

You must always be creating or creating only at certain times?

Or artist never rests, he always creates even away from the easel with his imagination.

The product of your work is unique or has a close or distant relationship to your previous work?

There are times when you create something unique, a definite work, other times when the idea develops in cycles.

What are the challenges of art / artist in the current scenario?

The challenge of art is to lead man to love beauty, the culture, the environment, traditions, life itself. This is only possible if art is produced as a science.

Social networks have helped you to spread your work?

The disclosure of artworks always been welcome. First with engraved prints, later with photos, now with faster and faster means thanks to “social networks”.

How plastic arts can contribute to education and culture?

So much we objects, both in the artifact and in the work of art, the aesthetic-formal balance has always been a messenger of beauty and culture as the natural symmetry of which everything is composed and lives mainly in the plastic forms of space.

How you analyze the qualities of a work of art?

A work of art is like a car in which the chassis is a good design, the colors are the wheels and the engine is the idea.

What are the criteria for stipulating the value of a work of art?

The economic value of a work is determined by auction prices, indices, etc. The artistic value, on the other hand, is linked to the creative moment of the author, while the spiritual value determines the user's sensitivity to his desire and affection.

Talk about your projects today ...

I have several projects related to my Territory, paintings inspired by my traditions, international personal exhibitions and painting courses at the PAM Museum of Modern Art in Parete (Caserta) where I am currently part of the Scientific Committee.

What's your advice for those just starting out?

I always advise students to draw a lot, fantasize and make many mistakes, but I never hide behind a limiting and harmful abstraction for beginners.

If you want to leave a message ...

The things you don't like won't please anyone. These things of yours that nobody likes will please you!

About your exhibitions, have any comments regarding, feelings…

In one of my exhibitions personal information about Pinocchio, the children in an orderly row looked at my works and told the story together, great emotion.

Could you comment on some artistic curiosity?

The good relationship with the children has always accompanied my work, lastly that of the pediatric emergency room in Aversa (Caserta) where I decorated the room with murals to alleviate the pain of the youngest.

How would you define your art in one line?

Using a painting that pays attention to the senses, I often find myself communicating with Braille writing for the blind and with musical notes, or with taste references. Communication with all the senses makes me happy, so I would define my painting with a single word, “SENSORIAL”.

Because dreams start from a memory, of a smell, of a song, of a taste, of a caress and our whole life becomes sensory.
