GALERIA TATO OPENS THE EXHIBITION “WHAT TO SAY ABOUT US?”

Collective brings works by 28 artists participating in two classes at Casa Tato, which has established itself as one of the most prestigious talent development programs in Brazilian visual art.

Shows open on the day 9 March, curated by Katia Salvany and Sylvia Werneck, in Barra Funda, new art circuit in the capital of São Paulo.

The TATO Gallery, known as a hub for attracting and developing talent in contemporary art, inaugurates the collective “What to say about us?”.

The shows gathers 30 works by artists participating in two editions of Casa Tato, gallery main project, focusing on the inclusion of promising artists in the art system.

Curated by Katia Salvany, responsible for Casa Tato 9; and Sylvia Werneck, responsible for Casa Tato 10; with assistance from João Pedro Pedro.

The exhibition opens on the day 9 March and can be visited until the day 30, from Wednesday to Saturday, in Barra Funda, in São Paulo. Admission is free.

The exhibition features works by the following artists: Adriana Nataloni (Argentina), Alessandra Mastrogiovanni (SP), Alexandre Vianna (SP), Anna Guerra (PE), Anna Vasquez (BA), Bet Soldier (RJ), Bianca Lionheart (SP), Danilo Villin (SP), Desirée shepherd purchase (RS), Diogo Nógue (SP), Edu Devens (RS), Flavia Matalon (SP), Gela Borges (MG), Giovanna Vilela (SP), Glenn Collard (SP), Isaac Sztutman (SP), Isabel Brown (RS), Jamile Sayão (SP), This is Janice (SP), Jaqueline Pauletti (SC), Jennifer Azevedo (RJ), Laura Martinez (Mexico), Luciano Panachão (SP), Marcelus Freschet (SP), Marina Marini Mariotto Belotto (PR), Neto Maia (BA), Turn it over (TO) and Tomaz Favilla (SP).

The museum was created in 2020, with the aim of boosting the careers of promising artists, the Casa Tato program reaches its tenth edition. “Over six months, participants immerse themselves in more than 100 hours of meetings and exchanges with various professionals from the art system in Brazil and abroad”, explains Tato DiLascio, gallery director and project creator.

The resident curators of the editions 9 and 10 were Kátia Salvany and Sylvia Werneck. Among the invited curators participate: Agnaldo Farias, Alice Granada, Andrés Duprat, Daniela Bousso, Francela Carrera, Filipe Campello, Javier Villa, Lorraine Mendes, Lucas Benatti, Ludimilla Fonseca, Marcello Salles, Nancy Rojas, Paula Borghi and Rejane Cintrão.

At the exhibition, the artists participating in the editions 9 and 10 of Casa Tato meet halfway. The first group completes its monitoring cycle, while the second starts it.

“With very specific research and varied poetics, we can say that, in their work, groups share the desire to break down everyday life and, with luck, glimpse some connection in the adventure of existing”, says Katia Salvany.

“Dealing with the transient, find the body's place in the city, trying to rebuild the broken link with nature or understanding memory are some of the questions addressed by the artists. Plastic languages ​​are as varied as the paths chosen to immerse themselves in their processes”, resume Sylvia Werneck.

In your annual grid, the gallery highlights the Casa Tato program, independent proposal that aims to establish networks between agents in the art circuit and market and visual artists for their professional development.

In 2024, the program reaches its tenth edition with a program of more than 100 online dating hours, with about of 14 participating artists per edition, several professionals from the art circuit and two collective exhibitions.

TATO HOUSE

Casa Tato is an independent initiative project that aims both at networking between agents in the arts circuit and at the professional development of visual artists.

Created by gallerist Tato DiLascio, The project offers guidance for 23 art system professionals, between curators, teachers, artists, gallery owners, collectors etc.

Interested artists register, send their portfolios and go through a selection process. The selected group, from to 14 artists, participates in a series of online meetings with important agents of contemporary art and the market, including highly renowned curators in Brazil and abroad.

Eight national and international curators participate in each edition, who analyze artists' portfolios, focusing on his poetics and processes. There are more than 100 hours of programming, which also includes marketing aspects, career strategy, art system, legislation, NFT, metaverso etc.

A resident curator accompanies the artists throughout the program and is responsible for the two in-person exhibitions in São Paulo, one at the beginning and one at the end of the program. Since it was created, in 2020, Casa Tato has already enhanced the career of 140 professionals in the arts circuit.
