Plastic artist opens space at Botafogo Praia Shopping
Keeping your itinerant vocation, democratizing Art in different spaces for indefinite periods, the provisional gallery, by artist Anderson Thives, will occupy space at Botafogo Praia Shopping, in a pop-up version, from day 15 August. In addition to promoting a tour of its exhibitions, Thives gives an “Instagrammable” touch to the environment, so that visitors can make their posts in a conceptual and fun environment, following the design of the project. The initiative, a partnership with the mall manager, Ancar Invanhoe, arose from the idea of bringing culture to those who frequent the enterprise, contemplating the artist's new projects, beyond previews from other exhibitions.
“It is a pleasure for Botafogo Praia Shopping to receive an exhibition as innovative as Thives. Actions like this reinforce our commitment to the residents of the neighborhood and surroundings, offering free and high quality cultural options. In this way, we encourage our visitors to have a closer contact with art”, juliana haddad celebrates, enterprise marketing manager.
Specialized in collages and inspired by Pop Art icons, the artist uses around five thousand colored clippings per square meter in his creations. The gallery will occupy the second floor, em frente à loja L’Occitane in Brazil. Admission is free and some works will only be on display., while selected others will be available for sale. Among the themes chosen, there are reinterpretations of great painters, as Leonardo Da Vinci, Van Gogh, Salvador Dali and Frida Kahlo, in addition to a series.
"The main objective, more than selling, is to bring art and new perspectives to the local public. The concept of setting up as a large facility, as well as in the Ipanema gallery, it's the same, now more compact and somewhat intimate. It's a great tour option.! Botafogo, like a super cool neighborhood, deserves this program on the agenda”, afirma Thives.
About the Provisional Gallery
Conceived by architect Aline Araújo in partnership with Thives, the gallery opened at the beginning of the year, in the heart of Ipanema, in a property that belongs to Aline's family company. Its ephemerality establishes an analogy with the current pandemic times. In this first occupation, brought a retrospective of Thives' career: around 40 pieces approaching shows held since the beginning, as well as recent projects, covering previews of new exhibitions and facilities. All this displayed over the months of stay, with the proposal of also bringing together other artists who dialogue with the proposal of the space. Recently, the artist created a large instagrammable panel at Píer Mauá, in front of the Rio Art Museum, in celebration of the month LGBTQIA+ Pride.
